DISCO BALLS! The Show This show is a fun and sexy tribute to the Disco era of the 1970s! Disco was actually born in the late 1960s, but didn't reach it's highest popularity until 1977-78. It was in response to the social issues of the time. People flocked to nightclubs to dance to disco music and escape the everyday stresses of war, political scandal, gang violence, race riots, homophobia, unemployment and crime. Discos became a safe(r) place for people of color and the gay community. By 1979, people had heard enough and we saw the "anti-disco" (aka "Disco sucks") movement. This show will feature a variety of acts, including burlesque, drag, and singers. Some of it will be sexy, some of it will be kinda kooky, but it will all be FUN! There will also be a DJ spinning a Disco Dance Party during intermission!
